Hello! My name is Rob Seipp and I am a Graphic Design major at California Baptist University with a concentration in Web Design. I chose to concentrate in web design because it is the only design industry that won’t go extinct. However, I am not just a web nerd, but also a photographer and traditional designer. I believe in strengthening all aspects of the field I am in and integrating elements of each for maximum output. In fact, I am currently teaching myself Autodesk Maya for conceptual 3D design and artwork. I have a passion for design in any form whether it be digital, on the Web, by paint or pencil, or by any other mediums. Even growing up, I loved to draw and doodle. I then took art classes that were primarily based on drawing and color, and demanded specific amounts of detail. I have also always been fascinated by type and how font, color, etc. could interact with words and communicate to the spectator. Please check out my portfolio pieces in 3D/Motion, Design, Photography, and Web.
When I started with web design, everything just clicked. I picked up very quickly and haven’t stopped learning since. My skills have grown vastly in a short amount of time (I’ve been designing for a year) and continue to grow. From the very beginning, I refused to take shortcuts and us WYSWYG software like Dreamweaver (unless specifically required to). Instead, I hand code all my sites. I know HTML, the new HTML5, CSS, some CSS3, and am learning JavaScript and PHP right now. My biggest strength is in designing WordPress themes.
Design isn’t my only passion. I was first a Music major at CBU with a concentration in Theory and Composition. Music is still a passion of mine and I am still developing my skills in that area. I play guitar but my main instrument is piano and have been playing both for about 10 years now. I still exercise my musical ability through playing for family and friends, and converting popular rock songs to solo piano pieces. The sheet music for these popular songs can be found in the music section.
These fields of study allow me to be creative and to explore concepts and ideas and to fabricate those concepts and ideas into reality. Please contact me for my resume or about any employment or freelance opportunities. Thank you!
